Carousel Can Can Café.
The 8,000-square-foot original concept by owner Karim El Sherif is inspired by
Paris circa 1908, and features a colorful dining room with original French posters
and antiques, murals and, brass poles, mirrors, creative lighting and three
hand-painted carousels by a French artist.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a private room for parties.
The menu will feature traditional French dishes such as coq au vin, as well as
continental favorites, including seafood, steaks, risottos and homemade pastas
prepared with French flavors. Most dinner entrees are moderately priced from $12-$24.
The bar menu will feature concocted specialty drinks with names such as King Louie
and the French Kiss. Carousel will also be open every day for lunch and serve brunch
on the weekends.
The experience itself is as important as the dining at Carousel. Waitresses and
bartenders dresses in corsets , and Can Can dancers sport powdered wigs à la
Marie Antoinette for their nightly shows. Local illustrator Pat Crowley designed most
of the graphics for the restaurant, and is creating an imaginative sculpture of a Can Can
girl on a horse for the front of the kitchen. Celebrity DJ Jean Marc is handling the music,
which has a European lounge vibe and extend into after-hours when the restaurant offers
dancing and a late-night menu. El Sherif wants guests to feel like they have been
transported back in time, Parisian style.
